Beach cover-ups are more than something to throw on after getting out of the water. A good one can make a swimsuit look like a full outfit, especially when you are going from the beach to lunch or spending the day near the water.
I like cover-ups that are easy to wear but still have something special about them. Loose shirts, long dresses, tunics, and sarongs can all give a swimsuit a completely different look without making the outfit feel too dressed up.
While looking through Andie’s apparel collection, I found several pieces that I could see myself packing for a beach trip. Some are simple enough for everyday plans, while others have prints or shapes that make them more noticeable.
1. The Linen Maxi Dress
A long linen dress is one of those pieces I would want in my beach bag. This one has a soft, flowy shape and is made from a linen blend that feels light against the skin. It can easily go over a swimsuit when I am heading away from the water. I also like that it does not have to stay a beach-only piece. With sandals and a small bag, I could wear it for lunch or while walking around town.
2. The Kaya Oversized Shirt Dress - Charcoal
Sometimes an oversized shirt is all I need for an easy beach look. This charcoal style has a relaxed shape, a collar, buttons down the front, and sleeves that can be rolled up. The soft cotton fabric also makes it a comfortable choice for warm weather. Wearing it open over swimwear would give the outfit a casual feel. I could also button it up and wear it on its own when I want a little more coverage.
3. The Esti Tunic
A tunic makes getting ready after a swim pretty easy. The loose shape gives me enough room to move, while the shorter length keeps it from feeling too heavy for a hot day. This is the kind of piece I would pack when I want something simple that I can put on quickly. A swimsuit underneath and a pair of sandals would be enough for a relaxed beach day.
4. The Harbor Mini Dress
A mini dress can be a fun change from the usual long cover-up. This one is made from lightweight cotton and has a relaxed fit with adjustable straps. Its slightly sheer fabric also works well as a layer over swimwear. I can see this one being useful for a quick lunch after swimming. The shorter length makes it easy to move around, and the simple shape leaves plenty of room for a straw hat or small jewelry.
5. The Gold Palm Geo Sarong
Not every cover-up needs to be a dress. This printed sarong has a gold, orange, and white design and can be worn in several ways. It can work as a skirt, dress, or scarf, which makes it a useful piece to take on a trip. The print would also bring some color to a simple swimsuit. I like having something like this when I want to change my look without packing another full outfit.
6. The Nadi Dress
Something a little more eye-catching can be nice for an evening by the water. This dress has a lime floral lace design, a deep V-neck, and ruffle details that give it a playful look. I would save this one for a beach dinner or a vacation evening. Since the dress already has a lot going on, I would keep the rest of the outfit simple.
7. The Coastal Button Up
A button-up shirt is one of the easiest cover-ups to wear in different ways. This one has a relaxed, flowy fit with a collar and long sleeves, making it useful when I want a little more coverage from the sun. I could leave it open over a swimsuit or button it up with shorts for a quick change after the beach. The loose shape also makes it easy to wear when I want to stay comfortable.
Pieces I’d Pack for the Beach
I like having a mix of cover-ups instead of packing several pieces that all look the same. A long dress can work for lunch or a walk along the beach, while a lightweight shirt gives you more than one way to style it.
I also like pieces that can easily fit into different parts of a trip. Having a few versatile cover-ups means you can change your look without packing too much, which makes getting dressed feel simple and relaxed.
